Contained 24 hymns, 23 by Charles Wesley and one by his eldest brother Samuel Wesley Jnr. These were mainly taken from other collections, though several had appeared earlier in the same year (1746). Three hymns had not been previously published:

No.18 Sinners, obey the Gospel-Word

No.19 O Love Divine, how sweet Thou art

the last two of these being repeated subsequently in Hymns & Sacred Poems 1749.
